Für die Bandbreite des FM-Signals gilt nach der Carson-Formel:
$B\approx2 \cdot \left(\Delta f_{\textrm{T}} + f_{\textrm{mod max}} \right)$
Gesucht ist die maximale Modulationsfrequenz $f_{\textrm{mod max}}$. Daher stellen wir die Formel entsprechend um:
$\frac{B}{2} = \Delta f_{\textrm{T}} + f_{\textrm{mod max}}$
$f_{\textrm{mod max}} = \frac{B}{2} - \Delta f_{\textrm{T}}$
Einsetzen der gegebenen Werte ergibt:
$f_{\textrm{mod max}} = \frac{\qty{10}{\kilo\hertz}}{2} - \qty{2,5}{\kilo\hertz} = \qty{5}{\kilo\hertz} - \qty{2,5}{\kilo\hertz} = \qty{2,5}{\kilo\hertz}$
Die höchste Modulationsfrequenz beträgt somit $\qty{2,5}{\kilo\hertz}$.
